HistoryThe Sentinel HS Group was founded in August 2005 by Brian C. Goebel. Mr. Goebel served as Counselor and Senior Policy Advisor to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Commissioner Robert C. Bonner from September 2001 to May 2004. Mr. Goebel has extensive experience in the private and public sectors working on homeland security matters related to border security, international trade & travel, customs, immigration, transportation, and intelligence. He frequently writes and comments on homeland security matters. Since its founding, the firm has grown steadily and in a disciplined manner. It has taken on an increasing array of projects and expanded its client offerings as demand for the firm's services has grown based on the firm's proven track record of providing valuable advice and assistance to its clients. Today, the firm stands as one of the premier boutique consulting firms in the homeland security space, with a group of ten talented professionals and a commitment to providing exceptional consulting services to its clients. The other key contributors to the firm's success, and the dates they joined the firm, are listed below: Joshua Kussman joined The Sentinel HS Group as a Member in December 2005. From August 2003 to December 2005, Mr. Kussman served as a policy advisor to Commissioner Bonner, ultimately becoming the Director of Policy for CBP. Mr. Kussman has wide-ranging experience on homeland security matters, with a particular emphasis on matters related to border control, immigration, border patrol, and international travel. Keith Thomson joined The Sentinel HS Group in January 2007 after having served as the Assistant Commissioner for International Affairs at CBP from July 2004 through August 2006. Jeff Thamkittikasem joined the firm in March 2007 after serving as the Chief of Staff in the Office of Anti-Terrorism, U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Robert C. Bonner, who served as Commissioner of U.S. Customs and then U.S. Customs and Border Protection from September 2001 – November 2005, joined The Sentinel HS Group as a Senior Principal on January 1, 2008. Mr. Bonner is an internationally-recognized thought leader on virtually all aspects of border security and border management, with a particular emphasis on international supply chain and border security, visitor management, and the risk-management principles embodied in the World Customs Organization SAFE Framework. Kevin K. McAleenan joined The Sentinel HS Group in February 2008. Most recently, he worked as Area Port Director for U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Before overseeing operations at LAX, Mr. McAleenan was the Executive Director of CBP's Office of Anti-Terrorism. |
